Four Things

It is still all brown and white here, no green, but at last we are having a day that gives us hope for spring.  Woo!

I have been tagged via email by the wise and talented Heidi (who has no blog) with the "Four Things" meme.  (Have you noticed you get the same meme in different "versions"?  I have received this in the past, so I married two.) To each query, here are four answers about me you may or may not have known, in no particular order.

(I only watch TV online or on DVD.  I despise commercials.  I also rarely watch TV with kids in the room.  Actually, I hate TV.  I'm just saying.  I watch it and I don't like it.  (Must remedy that.)  I do watch some History, HGTV and Discovery channels.)

1. Electricity, heating, cooking appliances, etc.

1. My desk is very, very messy right now
2. I wear an apron almost every day, almost all day

4. I love to scrapbook and make cards but I am hopelessly behind on scrapbooking my family

keeping it simple

There is a lot to talk about around here lately... we've got good stuff to tell in every category.  But it all makes for an overwhelming overabundance of life that keeps me busy doing things other than photographing beauty and writing about it creatively.  So to let myself off the hook, I'll jump back in with a simple meme, and we'll cover all the news in time.

A is for Apple

(I am cheating, because I have used this photo before, but hey, I've got to keep this simple, low pressure.)

A is for apple because I grew up in an apple orchard...  I grew up on this lovely little family farm, and every year we had "Apple Day" when everyone worked like dogs to harvest the apples and turn them into applesauce, apple juice, and pie-apples.  When we were young, these were apple days, because we were fewer, and less efficient, and my mother did most of the work of the season alone.  But as we grew, and then married and became parents, it became the event of the season, with little rosy-cheeked cousins running all about, tumbling through leaves and climbing trees and getting utterly filthy, and all of us sibs, Aunt Me and Uncle Him, all caring for all, laughing, joking, talking, and generally enjoying every minute despite the bushel after bushel of aching muscles, pruney fingers, sticky floors, and stained aprons.  Apple Day is one of those milestones in a year.  Apple Day was the day they all met my future husband for the first time.  Apple Day is a hallmark of home.  Besides the applesauce itself being delicious, the friendships with my siblings are divine.  Even the ones that drive me crazy are on my list of best friends.  I feel very lucky.
